A ballpoint writes with oil-based ink pushed out by a rotating ball — the ink that does not bleed through thin paper, does not smear when a page gets damp, and restarts after months unused. It is the pen you keep for reliability rather than pleasure.
The "soft" in the name refers to the ink formula: a low-viscosity oil ink that needs less pressure than an old-style ballpoint, so it glides closer to the way a gel pen feels while keeping the ballpoint’s toughness. 0.7 mm is the standard everyday width, dark enough to photocopy and fine enough for normal handwriting.
